Structure View Panel
Atlas Levels
Each number represents the atlas image for which the structure of interest or one of its children has been annotated. Mousing over the numbers changes the thumbnail images to the selected atlas level. Click on a number to launch the high-resolution image viewer centered on the structure of interest.
Zoomed Atlas Thumbnail
Thumbnail of the atlas image zoomed into the structure of interest. If the structure is explicitly annotated, the zooming is centered on the text. If not, the thumbnail image will display region that encloses all the structure’s children. Click on thumbnail to launch high-resolution image viewer.
Full Atlas Thumbnail
Thumbnail of the whole atlas image. The red box represents the region currently display in the “Zoomed Atlas” thumbnail. Click on thumbnail to launch high-resolution image viewer.
Structure Span
In the whole brain schematic, the light shaded region represents the span of all the atlas images where the structure has been annotated either explicitly or implicitly via its children. The dark red line indicates the location of the current atlas image being display in the "Zoomed Atlas" and "Full Atlas" thumbnails.
Children Hierarchy
The interactive tree displays all children of the structure. The background color for each structure is the same as that use to annotate the structure on the atlas images.
Show All / Hide All
Click on text to either expand or collapse the entire children tree.
Controls
Click on the white box to the left of the structure name to expand or collapse that branch of the tree.
Plane Indicator
A

next to a structure indicates that the structure is explicitly annotated in the Allen Reference Atlas.
Parent and Other Structures at the Same Node tables
Click on the structure name or label to open a detail page for that structure. The following is a brief description of the contents of each column in the table.
Structure Label
The abbreviation of the structure name as defined in the Allen Reference Atlas ontology.
Structure Name
The full name of the structure as defined in the Allen Reference Atlas ontology.
Atlas Locations
Each number represents the atlas image for where this structure is explicitly annotated in the Allen Reference Atlas. Click on the number to launch the high-resolution image viewer zoomed into the structure of interest.
Navigation
Switching between coronal and sagittal atlases
Click the or
icons to toggle between the coronal and sagittal atlases.
Browse alphabetical listing
Click on a letter, or number, to view a list of all structures where the abbreviation begins with the selected letter or number.
Search for structure of interest
Search for a structure by typing in the search box the structure abbreviation or phrase within the structure name.
